Tour operators from Kyrgyzstan supported the idea of creating a unified tourism brand for the countries of Central Asia. This was announced during the presentation of the Kazakhstan project: Born Bold, held in Bishkek. One of the key steps in developing tourism could be the simplification of the region's visa regime, including the introduction of a single Central Asian visa.
Kazakhstan's ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Rapil Zhoshybayev, said the issue was being discussed at the intergovernmental level. The innovation will allow foreign tourists to travel to all Central Asian countries with a single entry document. For example, after visiting Kazakhstan, they will be able to travel to Kyrgyzstan or other neighbouring countries without additional formalities.
The development of tourism in Kazakhstan can also benefit Kyrgyzstan, as many foreign tourists prefer to visit several countries in one trip.
This also opens up prospects for infrastructure improvements. For example, a project to build a road from Almaty to Issyk-Kul is being considered, which would make travel between the two countries more convenient. Kyyal Kenjematova, deputy director of the Kyrgyz Republic's Ministry of Economy and Trade Department of Tourism, says the working group is discussing the implementation of this project with the Asian Development Bank.
